During a period of continued growth and acquisition for this bespoke protective equipment manufacturer, there is now an opportunity for a proactive purchasing professional to join the team to support purchasing development at their site in St Helens.
Reporting into the Purchasing Manager, key responsibilities as Senior Buyer will be to: -
- Negotiate favourable terms for the business with new and existing suppliers.
- Purchase goods, raw materials and services to meet cost, quality and delivery targets.
- Identify and improve current transactional processes within the purchasing function.
- Reduce inventory and improve supplier lead times.
- Drive supplier improvement activity for delivery, quality and cost.
- Prepare and raise purchase orders.
- Implement and report on supplier performance measures, identifying risk to supply chain and work to resolve.
- Compile data relating to supplier performance.
The successful candidate will: -
- Have purchasing experience gained within manufacturing.
- Have a proactive approach to supplier negotiations.
- Be able to build strong relationships with suppliers.
- Ideally be CIPS qualified or willing to study.
- Have excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
